Use this procedure to manually link pages that already exist on both your primary language and your secondary language sites. You can also configure the rules for translation of the pages once they are linked.
Note: Linking existing pages across primary and secondary sites is achieved from within the secondary site, not the primary site.
Log onto the secondary language site.
Edit the page you wish to link to the primary language site.
Go to the Translation tab.
Check the This page is a translation of another page checkbox. A number of fields are displayed below the checkbox.
In the Page Being Translated field, click on the Change Page link.
From the Choose Page dialog, select the page on the primary site that you want to associate with this page on the secondary site.
Click OK.
Click Save and submit for publication.
Now edit the page on the primary language site that you have just associated with this page.
Go to the Translation tab.
On the primary language site, make sure the This page is being translated into other languages checkbox is checked.
If your primary site requires translation throughout, or your site administrator has set this particular page or section to require translation, it will be checked and grayed out. If translation is not required, you can simply check the checkbox.
Look at the Site Name column below the checkbox. You will see the name of your secondary site and the name of the page on that site that is associated with the current page on the primary site. To enforce required translation, the checkbox to the left of the Site Name must be checked. These checkboxes are here because you can have a setup where there are multiple other language sites and only some of them require that the page be translated, so checking the checkbox beside each sites indicates which ones require translation.
Click OK.
Click Save and publish the page.
You have now linked a page on the secondary site with a page on the primary site. When edits are made to content on the primary site page, and you try to publish the primary site page, a Pending Translation status will be displayed and you will not be able to publish the primary site page until the secondary site's page has been translated and published.
