The syndicated job posting pages are part of the Job Centre functionality that allows you to define a job search page and search/display job postings both from within the local ACM environment as well as from external sources.
Before you can search for and display the syndicated job postings, you must first create and configure the Job Centre main page. The Job Centre main page serves as the interface for searching for jobs, displaying the results in detail, and providing an application mechanism for applying for the jobs.
Be sure you have already created the Job Centre main page.
From the System menu, open the Syndication Manager.
At the top of the page, in the Syndication Type field, select Pages. Note that you will only be able to access the Pages option if you belong to a group that has been given access to the Pages Syndication Manager. See Group Manager - Edit Group - Tools tab:
Speak to your system administrator if you are unable to access this feature.
If there is a particular HTML editor you wish to use when creating the job postings, you may want to select the site from which to use the editor settings. This is done in the Use Editor Settings From field at the top of the page.
At the top of the list of pages you will see an entry similar to this:
.
Click the (Edit) link to open the Syndicated Pages editor.
In the center portion of the page, move your mouse over the New button and select Category from the page list. What you are doing here is creating a parent page that will "hold" all of the job postings. You may wish to keep it simple by calling it Job Postings.
Note regarding Site groups and syndicated job postings: When the Job Centre is configured to look for job postings locally within the same installation of the ACM, it will find any and all job postings, regardless of where they are located in the Syndication Manager. The only exception is if you are using Site Groups. Job postings that are contained within site groups are not accessible across site groups. In order for a Job Centre within one site group to access job postings within another site group, you must configure the Job Centre to use an "external" job posting source and point to the other site group. Likewise, job postings in the other site group must be set (individually on each job posting page) to be served externally!
Once you have created the Category and saved it, edit it again and create child pages by mousing over the New button and selecting Syndicated Job Posting.
On the new Job Posting child page, complete the Page SummaryPage Summary settings.
There are two fields to consider when entering Page Summary information:
Title: this is the title of your job posting. This is a required field and should be the position title - e.g. Contract Software Developer or Senior Financial Officer.
Do NOT serve content to external sources: this checkbox is selected by default when a new job posting is created. When selected it means that this posting will only be displayed within the current installation of ACM and will not be available to external installations or across site groups. Consider the nature of your job posting and whether or not you want it to be accessible externally or to other site groups within the same installation.
Complete the Job PropertiesJob Properties section.
This section allows you to configure information for the job posting and enter a detailed description of the position:
Job ID: You can optionally enter a job id in this field or leave it blank and the system will automatically generate a job id when the page is published. If you decide to manually enter a job id, the system will check to ensure you do not use the same job id twice.
Time Created: This is an automatically-generated system date and time - the date and time at which you created the job posting page. You cannot change it.
Close Time: Enter the job posting's close date and time. Important to note that once the date has passed, the job posting will no longer be displayed anywhere on Job Centre pages. If you are searching for jobs and they are not showing, the date is probably passed already.
Openings: Enter the number of available positions. The default is 1.
Job fields: The options presented in these boxes are configured on the Syndicated Job Posting page in the Page Type Manager - within the Page Syndication Library
Enter the Job Description in the HTML editor window provided. This can be the complete job description including links and email addresses, etc.
Click Save and submit the page for publication.
