Global system variables - objectionable words tab
If you allow public users to contribute content to your site (e.g. they can post blog entries or calendar events, or leave comments), you will likely want to maintain a list of words that are not permitted to be used on the site. This list of words is referred to as the Objectionable Words list. You can maintain a list of these words here on this tab. For each word you add, you must indicate if there is a suitable replacement word or if you would simply like the offending word removed.
Import Word List: If you have a spreadsheet or other comma-delimited text file with a list of objectionable words, you can import that list to the ACM. Click this button and select the file to import.
Add: Click this button to add words manually or to add words to your previously imported list of words. When you click Add, a blank line is added to the table of existing words. The line allows you to enter the objectionable word as well as a replacement word.
Objectionable Word: This column is where you type in the objectionable word. You can click on this link to resort your list alphabetically in ascending or descending order. Type in the word and proceed to the replacement field.
Default masking character: When your ACM is installed this field contains an asterisk (*). The Default masking characters are used to replace objectionable words for which you have not typed in a replacement.
Replacement: Type the word you would like to have automatically replace any occurrence of the objectionable word. Each time the ACM encounters the objectionable word, it will automatically substitute it for the word you typed here. If you do not type a replacement word, the system will replace the objectionable word with the Default masking character. The system counts the number of characters in the “Objectionable Word” field and uses same number of masking characters as the replacement word (spaces will not be replaced).
Whole word: Check this box if you only want ACM to replace the word if it is found as a whole word by itself, and not part of a larger word. Leave this box unchecked if you want ACM to replace the word no matter what: whether it is found as a word on its own or as letters in a larger word.
Remove: Check this box to remove an objectionable word and its replacement from the list.
Save: Click Save to save changes and additions to your list.
