Global system variables - digital asset tags tab
The digital assets used throughout your ACM sites probably include things such as: articles, brochures, icon files, images, photos, videos, documents, and much more. To be sure that both your internal and external users can locate these assets, you need to apply meta data tags (descriptive words) to them so that when users search by keywords, they will locate your files.
The Digital Asset Tags tab is used for defining how these descriptive metadata tags will be applied to digital asset files in the Digital Asset Manager. For example, will users who add the digital assets to the system be allowed a free-format text field in which to describe the digital asset? or do you want to force users to select descriptive words from a pre-defined list that you or your other administrators control?
Add new tags by: This field gives you the option of Text or List.
Text: If you select the Text option, users editing digital assets in the Digital Asset Manager will be able to type in anything they want as the metadata descriptor tag for identifying an asset. This is good for flexibility but does not necessarily produce consistency in describing assets.
List: If you select the List option, users must select metadata tags from your predefined list of descriptive words that you create and maintain here. This gives users uploading assets less control over how to describe the asset but provides consistency in how assets are described.
If you decide to switch from one type of meta tags to the other, the system will display a warning message stating that all existing tags will be removed.
