Add single asset
This page is used for uploading a single digital asset file (document, image, video, PDF, etc.) to the Digital Asset Manager. If you wish to upload a number of assets at the same time to the same folder, go back to the main Digital Asset Manager page and click the Add Multiple Assets button.
Active: This checkbox controls whether the asset is available for use or not. If it is unchecked the asset will not be available for users to add to their content. You can use this button to temporarily inactivate an asset if you are waiting to update it or not sure if you want users to add it to their pages.
Name: This is the name that will be displayed in the Digital Asset Manager.
URL Title: If you are using Friendly URLs on your site, this is the URL that will be used to identify this digital asset. So instead of the ACM-generated url, your digital asset will display the same URL on your dynamic site as is used on your published static site.
Description: You may wish to enter copyright information or author, artist, photographer information and important descriptive information. This field allows a maximum of 1000 characters.
Alt Tag: The text you enter here will be displayed when users place the mouse pointer over top of the asset image or link.
Assign to Folder: Select the digital asset folder you want to put the asset into. Remember that only user groups with access to that folder will gain access to the digital asset.
Add Subfolder: This field is used to add a new subfolder for storing assets. Start by entering the parent folder in the Assign to Folder field. This is where the subfolder will be added. Then, in the Add Subfolder field, type the name of the new folder and click Add. The new subfolder is moved automatically to the Assign to Folder field. Thus, when you click Save to add the new asset, it will be placed in your new folder.
Upload: Click Browse and select the file to add to the library.
Asset Type: Select whether the file you are uploading is a video file or some other type of file (document, PDF, jpeg, gif, etc.). Only select FlashVideo if you are uploading a video file. Videos that are not already in a .flv format are converted to FlashVideo format when they are uploaded.
Optimize Image: If the Global System Variables and/or the Site Variables have set Image Optimization to be optional, then you can edit this field. If it is set to required then this option will be checked and greyed out and you will not be able to edit it. If you are able to change this field, decide whether you want to reduce the size of the images you are uploading to optimize them for use by the ACM. You can uncheck the checkbox if you do not wish to optimize the images being uploaded. It is recommended however that where possible you elect to optimize all images being used in the ACM.
Click Save. You can then edit the asset to add additional information on the Sites, Usage, History, Tags and Site Groups (if applicable) tabs.
