Creating KBArticle pages

After you have created a page to house your knowledgebase article pages, use this procedure to create knowledgebase articles. Tip!

  1. Navigate to the page that will be the parent of the new page. See Parent and child pages if you are unsure what this means.

  2. Mouse over the +Childpage button and select KBArticle from the list of page types. If you do not see the +Childpage button you may have insufficient user rights to add pages: speak to your system administrator.

  3. Complete the Page Summary and the General Properties sections of the page. Note that the Teaser field is required on KBArticle pages. The text you enter here appears in the search results and provides a snapshot of the answer or solution to the article issue.

  1. In the Question field, enter a fuller description of the article content, in question format. For example: How do I correct a Concurrency Failure? What causes a Concurrency Failure? If you do not enter a question, the contents of the Title field will be used as the Question.

  2. In the Answer text window, enter a description and any other relevant information (graphics, links, tables) to describe the solution or issue in detail.

  3. In the Properties section, add Keywords that will help users find this article when they perform a search of your knowledgebase. Tip!

  4. Click the Experts Profile <<Edit>> link. Select which of the optional Global and Site User Profile questions you would like displayed when viewers look at the Experts' profiles.

The profile questions here are configured by your site administrator. The profiles are viewed on the published article page when the user clicks the VIEW PROFILE link beside an expert's name.

  5. In the Related KB Articles section, click the <<Add KB Articles>> link to add links to other related articles in your knowledgebase.

  6. In the Experts section, click the <<Add Experts>> link and select users in your organization who have expertise in this area. Their email addresses will be added to the Experts area of the published KBArticle page.

  7. In the Documents and Assets section, click the <<Select Digital Asset>> link to insert links to documents, images or other relevant digital assets.

  8. In the Related Links section, enter a descriptive Title and the corresponding URL and click Add. This section is used to provide links to relevant web sites.

  9. Click Save and submit for publication.
